What happened to the Land of Sparkflies? Where is everybody? Why have the buildings disappeared? How come the sparkflies are acting so strange?

Well, you're not gonna find out today because I had only one week to make this game.

Sparkfly is my entry in the GDevelop Game Jam #1.

Enjoy!

Hi! I will chime in with everyone and say that the visuals and slow transitions are beautiful, and it's really cool how create a mood and seduce the player into a different world. What I find most impressive is the music you composed. I'm a musician myself and the music you composed is such high quality! The effects, the instrumental quality and how you harmonized and adjusted every part of the music is amazing! I thought about trying Cubase at some point to create some music, haven't gotten to it yet.
So nice game.

Thanks Lion!
Your comment about the music is greatly appreciated since it was the focus point while making this game.

Cubase is a great software for creating music. You can also checkout Reaper, which is free. The only downside is that there are little to no virtual instrument out of the box and you'll have to search the internet for free or paid instruments. If you're on a mac, I greatly suggest Logic X since there are a lot of virtual instruments to start with, including orchestra stuffs.

Let me know if you need help starting out in the DAW world. I know it can be overwhelming at first!

Hi!
You're welcome!

Thank you for the suggestions!
I'm not afraid of the DAW world, but I really appreciate the offer, thank you very much!

awesome and beautiful, so realxing and graphics are amazing. The main issue being a non-music guy are the controls. its really difficult to find and remember the keys. moreover the keys guide on  extreme right of the piano is not visible at all.

Thank you Pih!

I hope the game can help people to memorize the piano keys. I usually create games for music education so I had that in mind for this one too.

As for the keys guide on the right, unless I misunderstand what you are referring to, "it's not a bug... it's a feature" ;) Since the keys between "l" and "enter" aren't mappable in GDevelop, I had to end the keyboard input at high C. I could have gone up to high D with the letter "l", but I thought it would be less elegant.

Cheers!

Visually impressive. Good job. Game rated & enjoyed.

Thank you! Just took a look at yours and it's super fun!

Thanks.

The visuals are amazing, as well as the use of particles, the use of musical notes to guide the player as well as the monologues easily adds up to a classical mystery game. The game design is pretty solid in my opinion, the only issues I might have so far is the use of the effects, not that it's bad, it's just heavily slow on my browser, which sort of proves that eventually, it will have a much stronger foundation on a pc or mobile release.

Can't wait to see more of this even when the jam is over ;)

Wow! Thank you VCDGamer!

You're absolutely right about the effects. I tried it on ipad and it was absolutely unplayable (like 2fps...). Android performed a lot better than ios, but still, I think I over did it with the effects.

I'll upload a new version without the blurs in the background in a couple minutes.

Thanks for trying it!

Its really good but as a non music person you will need to add option to show note on the keys (I am sure I wont be the only one). :)

Hey Rico! Have you tried the "help" button on the top right corner? Is this the kind of feature you have in mind?

Thanks for trying my game! :)

Thanks for the "input"! :D
I'll do my best to add it before the deadline. I did it before with some other games so that souldn't take too long

This is really great! I do wish I could use my keyboard instead of just mouse controls though
